Time for gettin’ organized. My fantastic neighbor, Israel, helped design and construct this fantastic new addition to the INKubator PRESS. Felts are always problematic to store, and we needed a good place to store the brayers. Yet the storage needed to be easily modified to accommodate additional tools of varying sizes. We are pretty pleased with how well this French cleat system turned out, now we just need to add to that brayer and roller collection…

Enrique Chagoya’s new book
Illegal Alien’s Guide to Political Economy

This was an ambitious project starting an artist book and completing it over the course of a week. The collaboration between Phil and Enrique began in New York City at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. Drawings were made, scanned, printed onto film, brought to Anchor Graphics studio in Chicago where more drawings were completed. Plates were exposed, printed, books were assembled, sewn and signed all with a non stop audience of at least 50 or more people surrounding the presses.
The last book was signed about 20 minutes before the studios closed on Saturday afternoon. This whirlwind of a project produced a very unique and beautifully drawn and printed edition. A true collaboration of artist, printer, as well as printmaking studios.
The edition size of this book is only 75 and are at a very reasonable price. To purchase or for more information and images please contact RBPMW at 646-416-6226 or email phil@efa1.org.

Greetings and print salutations from the intermountain west! It was great to meet some of my fellow bloggers in Chicago at the Southern Graphics Council conference. The conference was packed with interesting panels, exhibitions and demonstrations. Of primary importance was meeting and reconnecting with so many interesting print artists, affirming our collective camaraderie.
It felt good to return to Idaho, where there exists a healthy emerging community of printmakers. This week marks the opening of two inaugural exhibitions in the printmaking community of Boise. Wingtip Press, Boise’s first community printmaking workshop opens “Toast” a portfolio organized by press founder’s April Hoff and Amy Nack. The show features a wide range of Southwest Idaho artists working in hand-pulled print media and takes place at the Eagle Knoll Winery Gallery.
Also opening this week at The Flying M Coffeehouse in downtown Boise is Red Circle Press’s first off-campus silent auction. Over fifty works are available for bidding in one of Boise’s most eclectic venues. Red Circle Press is a student initiated and managed organization at Boise State University. If you happen to be in the area, please visit both shows on display through the month of April.
