Postcards From Idaho…

Woodcut by Jin You, Red Circle Press Member, BSU student
Greetings and print salutations from the intermountain west! It was great to meet some of my fellow bloggers in Chicago at the Southern Graphics Council conference. The conference was packed with interesting panels, exhibitions and demonstrations. Of primary importance was meeting and reconnecting with so many interesting print artists, affirming our collective camaraderie.
It felt good to return to Idaho, where there exists a healthy emerging community of printmakers. This week marks the opening of two inaugural exhibitions in the printmaking community of Boise. Wingtip Press, Boise’s first community printmaking workshop opens “Toast” a portfolio organized by press founder’s April Hoff and Amy Nack. The show features a wide range of Southwest Idaho artists working in hand-pulled print media and takes place at the Eagle Knoll Winery Gallery.
Also opening this week at The Flying M Coffeehouse in downtown Boise is Red Circle Press’s first off-campus silent auction. Over fifty works are available for bidding in one of Boise’s most eclectic venues. Red Circle Press is a student initiated and managed organization at Boise State University. If you happen to be in the area, please visit both shows on display through the month of April.
