Jessica Owings
Jessica Owings's work is centered upon her interaction and observation with landscapes, urban environments, and collaboration. With experience in fine art and commercial printing, her artistic endeavors merge artistic concepts with design constructs. Much of her work is presented as series or sequence, using these traditionally commercial aspects of printmaking to facilitate and develop her ideas within her studio work. The work manifests itself in the form of drawings, paintings, cut paper, books, and various printmaking techniques including relief, silkscreen, intaglio, and digital printmaking.
After relocating to Kansas City just over three years ago, Jessica assisted at the Lawrence Lithography Workshop for two and a half years. Currently she is a lecturer for the Printmaking Department at the Kansas City Art Institute, an assistant printer at Skylab Letterpress, and forever an avid cyclist. She earned her B.F.A from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and an M.F.A from the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, just prior to returning to the Midwest.
